Quantum security Ireland: what to prepare now

“Quantum secure” is too broad a promise. Cryptographic migration is the immediate practical subject: inventory public-key cryptography, identify long-lived sensitive data and plan upgrades using standards.

NIST has released post-quantum standards. That is not the same as saying all encryption is broken today, nor that an organisation needs a quantum computer to adopt quantum-resistant algorithms.

A useful Irish security roadmap would distinguish post-quantum cryptography, quantum key distribution and general cyber hygiene. Their costs, use cases and evidence differ.
